Winter Workshops @ Highland Branch – Bill Taylor

Bill Taylor Lecture-Demonstration & Playing Workshop
Bill will first present a survey of harps in Scotland, Ireland and Wales, from their origins in the early Middle Ages through to the C19th. This will include images as well as live examples of music from different periods using different instruments.
Following a short break, he will lead a workshop on playing selected tunes from Edward Bunting’s Ancient Music of Ireland, suitable for all levels of players except absolute beginner, for all sizes of harp, and with all types of strings.
All workshops will be on zoom and sheet music and recordings will be circulated a day or so before, but most of the workshops are taught by ear, so you don’t need to use the sheet music.
