London and South East of England Branch

Branch Information

The branch organises two residential weekend courses annually, one at the end of September, which takes place at Benslow Music in Hitchin, and the other is in June, in Kent, Surrey, or Norfolk.  There are also a number of local groups within the branch, which hold playing meetings and/or workshops. Details of forthcoming events are circulated to branch members monthly by email.  Non-members are welcome to attend branch events but will be charged a higher fee than members.

Geographical Area covered

The branch covers London and the south-east of England, but also includes East Anglia, Herts/Beds/Bucks, Oxfordshire, Berkshire and Hampshire, and Birmingham.

Harp hire?

The branch has a number of harps for hire, mainly 34 string harps, although some are smaller.  The monthly hire charge is generally £30, but less for some of the older or smaller harps.  A deposit equivalent to 3 months’ hire is required at the start of the hire period.  Further details are available on the branch website.  The branch harp hire administrator is Charles Hope, email harphirelondonse@clarsachsociety.co.uk.  The branch also has two loan harps available, which are loaned out at no charge for a period of one year starting in July each year.  Further details of the loan scheme, including eligibility and how to apply, are available on the branch website.
